Evaluating Phospholipid‐Functionalized Gold Nanorods for In Vivo Applications

چکیده
Gold nanorods (AuNRs) have attracted a great deal of attention due to their potential for use in wide range biomedical applications. However, production typically requires the relatively toxic cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) leading continued demand protocols detoxify them vivo In this study, robust and facile protocol displacement CTAB from surface AuNRs using phospholipids is presented. After displacement, not detectable by NMR spectroscopy, surface-enhanced Raman or pH-dependent ζ-potential measurements. The phospholipid functionalized demonstrated superior stability biocompatibility (IC50 > 200 µg mL−1) compared both polyelectrolyte are well tolerated vivo. Furthermore, they high near-infrared (NIR) absorbance produce large amounts heat under NIR illumination, hence such particles suited plasmonic medical

Rapid purification of gold nanorods for biomedical applications
Small gold nanorods (GNRs) with longitudinal plasmon absorption in the near-infrared window (700-900 nm), are of great interest for in vivo optical applications (e.g., photothermal therapy) and for their high-payload-to-carrier ratio for drug delivery. Common synthetic strategies for GNR production afford spherical and cubical nanoparticles in addition to the desired GNRS. Thus, several methods...
متن کاملGd(III) functionalized gold nanorods for multimodal imaging applications.
We demonstrate a novel noncovalent method for producing Gd(III)-functionalized gold nanorods as multimodal contrast agents for MRI and CT imaging. The ligand is connected to the surface of the gold nanorods by a noncovalent bond making the Gd(III) ions directly accessible to water molecules, and resulting in a longitudinal relaxivity as high as 21.3 mM(-1) s(-1). In addition, compared with sphe...
متن کاملThree-Photon Luminescence of Gold Nanorods and Its Applications for High Contrast Tissue and Deep In Vivo Brain Imaging
Gold nanoparticles can be used as contrast agents for bio-imaging applications. Here we studied multi-photon luminescence (MPL) of gold nanorods (GNRs), under the excitation of femtosecond (fs) lasers. GNRs functionalized with polyethylene glycol (PEG) molecules have high chemical and optical stability, and can be used as multi-photon luminescent nanoprobes for deep in vivo imaging of live anim...
متن کاملFunctional gold nanorods: synthesis, self-assembly, and sensing applications.
Gold nanorods have received much attention due to their unique optical and electronic properties which are dependent on their shape, size, and aspect ratio. This article covers in detail the synthesis, functionalization, self-assembly, and sensing applications of gold nanorods. The synthesis of three major types of rods is discussed: single-crystalline and pentahedrally-twinned rods, which are ...
متن کاملApplications of gold nanoparticles for medical imaging
Background & Aim: Molecular imaging enables us to non-invasively visualize tissue microstructures and lesion characterization, allowing accurate diagnosis of diseases at early stages. A successful molecular imaging requires a nontoxic contrast agent with high sensitivity. Nowadays, a wide range of nanoparticles have been developed as contrast agents for medical imaging modalities. Here, we revi...
